How do you accrue pension?

Average earnings scheme

Middelloon_en

Each year, you accrue pension rights over part of the gross salary that you earn in that year. You do not accrue pension rights over your whole gross salary. Your pension administrator has taken account of the AOW pension that you receive from the government when you retire. The portion of your salary on which you do not accrue any pension is called the deductible.

Subject to financing, you accrue 1.875% retirement pension on your gross salary every year minus the deductible. You will build up 1.47% retirement pension in 2021. The total pension that you accrue this way is the sum of all those years plus any indexation. You receive this pension in monthly instalments from your retirement date for as long as you live after your retirement date. This is referred to as an average pay scheme.
