  • I see new amounts. Has my pension scheme been modified?

No, the scheme has not been modified. What you see is an estimate based on the current scheme.

  • What am I supposed to do with the estimated pension amounts?

You can use the middle amount to check whether the expected pension is enough for you to live on. The other two amounts indicate the direction in which your pension may develop in a very good or very bad economic situation.

Your pension will never suddenly be equal to the left amount. If the economy slows down for an extended period of time, the expected pension (the middle amount) will gradually become lower. It is therefore a good idea to check your pension from time to time (e.g. every year), so you can see in which direction your pension is developing.

  • How likely is it that I will receive the lowest amount?

Economists have considered what might happen in future and have come up with 2000 possible scenarios. In those scenarios, interest rates are high or low and investments are either up or down. And prices either are or are not increasing. We then calculated how large your pension would be in each scenario.

In 5% of the situations, the amount calculated was lower than the amount if things go worse than expected. There is only a very small chance that you will receive exactly the lowest amount. The chance that you will receive more than the lowest amount is 95%.

  • How likely is it that I will receive the middle amount?

The answer may be odd, as the chances are very small. Economists have considered what might happen in future and have come up with 2000 possible scenarios. In those scenarios, interest rates are high or low and investments are either up or down. And prices either are or are not increasing. We then calculated how large your pension would be in each scenario.

The average outcome is shown in the middle at the top. At this time, there is a 50% chance that your pension will be smaller. And at this time, there is a 50% chance that your pension will be bigger. There is only a very small chance that you will receive exactly this amount. We simply want to show you the direction in which your pension may develop during an extended period of good or bad economic conditions.

  • How likely is it that I will receive the highest amount?

Economists have considered what might happen in future and have come up with 2000 possible scenarios. In those scenarios, interest rates are high or low and investments are either up or down. And prices either are or are not increasing. We then calculated how large your pension would be in each scenario.

In 5% of the situations, the amount calculated was higher than the amount if things go better than expected. There is only a very small chance that you will receive exactly this highest amount. The chance that you will receive less than the highest amount is currently 95%.

  • When do things go better than expected?

This would mean that the economy is performing much better than expected. It is a possible scenario in which the returns on the investments are higher than expected. The interest rate is rising, and prices are not increasing or are perhaps even decreasing. We do not know whether this situation will occur. But if it does, the right arrow points to what this would mean for your pension.

  • When do things go worse than expected?

This would mean that the economy is performing much worse than expected. It is a possible scenario in which the returns on the investments are lower than expected. The interest rate is lower than expected, and the prices are increasing at a higher rate than expected. We do not know whether this situation will occur. But if it does, the left arrow points to what this would mean for your pension.

  • Is there a chance that I will receive less than the lowest amount? Or more than the highest amount?

Yes, that is possible. The three amounts were calculated based on 2000 possible scenarios. We calculated your pension in each scenario. In 5% of these scenarios, your pension will be lower than the amount you see on the left. In 5% of the scenarios, your pension will be higher than the amount you see on the right. As it stands, there is a 90% chance that your pension will be somewhere between the left and right amount.

  • Why don't I see the survivor's pension in the case that things go better or worse than expected?

The government has decided that it should only be shown what will happen to your own pension if things go better or worse than expected.

  • Are the scenarios a result of the pension agreement?

No, showing different scenarios is a new method of communicating about the pension you are accruing via this pension scheme which was imposed on us by the government.
